(These are 2 posts pulled from my FB rant)
Moses Cone Hospital you need upgrades, and maintenance. And cultural/religious sensitivity classes for all staff.
* If nurses can't open/close the doors FIX IT. Patient privacy shouldn't depend on wether not a nurse can open a janky door. You hire them, maintain their work environment! I don't go to a hotel, leave my door open, and use the flat sheet to cover the entrance. Noone does that. Why are you doing this?

* I am a MUSLIM WOMAN. STOP LEAVING MY DOORS OPEN AND PULLING THE DAMN CURTAIN THINKING THAT ITS PRIVACY!!! ITS NOT. And yall kept doing it when night shift started even after I talked with my day nurse and told her I would like it closed. Which tells me this is what's done normally. I had to get up repeatedly to close my door overnight.

* Knock on the door and wait to be admitted in. A man just walking into my room because he saw the woman he was with in training should never be allowed to happen, to any woman. Again I told them about males entering my room. He showed me he wasn't even told to knock let alone wait for permission to enter.

* Bathrooms: Slanted flooring OR IV poles with foot breaks. Can't have both the slanted flooring and no break. Just upgrade to poles with breaks if possible. I shouldn't have to drag the shower seat over or use my foot behind a wheel as a break to keep my IV pole close so it wouldn't roll away towards the shower drain while I'm on the toilet or trying to wash my hands.

*Do the charge ports on your beds even work? Fix it. Better yet see about slowly transitioning to better beds w/out charge ports especially if you don't want to hire the repairman crew to maintain them. I came in for a thyroidectomy, Im leaving with a headache and backache caused by no sleep from an uncomfortable bed and having to pee every half hour due to the IV.
My surgeon is the one star.

I thought I had an adequate discussion with my day nurse about closing my door. She told me the door would be closed, anyone entering would knock first and wait for the go ahead to enter, and that she would place a note on the door reiterating in writing the things she told me she would do.
Imagine my surprise to see my door still being left open and then finding out there wasn't even a sign like I was told there would be. A sign on a hospital door should be treated as important need to know info and not advertisements for side hustles that can be removed by anyone. And no I'm not going to explain protocol for if it happens to fall off a door. At this point I'm thinking she never did any of what she said she would.
Funny when I mentioned this could be an expensive problem for the hospital if a person feels like it's done for a reason, a specific bad reason, my night nurse got out of my room quick quick. She made that note, showed it to me, taped it onto my door and went to give report to her day replacement and clock out.
Yall need to learn about the public you serve MCH. I've seen to many Muslim women here for yall to be so willfully ignorant.

If I could give this hospital zero stars, I would. The service here is absolutely unacceptable. I went in with severe abdominal pain and ended up waiting 6 hours in the waiting room—after already spending 1 hour in triage.

No one in the waiting area could provide updates or give any information about wait times. Despite telling staff multiple times that I believed I was in the wrong area, I was forced to remain in the general ER. I even explained that I needed to be in another wing of the hospital, but no one would listen. Because of this delay, my condition worsened significantly.

To make matters worse, patients are required to sign a waiver stating that if they leave before being seen, the hospital is not responsible for any outcomes—essentially forcing you to stay regardless of the circumstances.

This facility feels less like a hospital and more like a giant morgue. They’ve spent millions expanding the building, yet have failed to invest in basic infrastructure to improve ER wait times and patient care.

The conditions inside are far from accommodating—it’s dirty, poorly maintained, and reeks of sewage. Honestly, even if you’re in critical condition, DO NOT COME HERE. You might stand a better chance of survival elsewhere than at Cone Hospital.

The hospital experience was excellent, the nursing staff and the physicians I have worked with have been very good. Now when it comes to there insurance and billing departments watch out. They are some of the most incompetent people I have dealt with make sure you get your own preapproval from your insurance company and don't believe there estimates. Just beware and cover your self because nothing is there fault and they wont help at all with the insurance if there is a problem even if it is there problem. It has been a terrible experience dealing with them and if it wouldn't be for the fact I like my doctors I would never go back to this hospital.

This was my first visit. I was having severe pain, and waited 8 hrs and didn't see a doctor. The staff is rude, told me to leave, said good riddance. Because I asked for care. A woman passed out waiting for 10 hours and hit her head on the wall, another man who was incapacitated was sitting in a wet blanket, aan had lymph drainage and it was all over the floor. The bathroom had urine on the floor, feces on the seats, an nobody repeated my crappy vitals for hours and I had to ask. I will be reporting to the health department, Medicare, and the hospital administration. I am now home and I feel worse than when I went, and have no idea where to go to get care because all the hospitals are owned by them. I will likely have to go to another ER in another town which is really sad that I can't get care in my city. By the way, I'm also a nurse and gave them every opportunity to provide me with any care whatsoever. This is not how you treat patients. If you go there, may the odds be forever in your favor!

I had a stroke and the cafeteria couldn’t get order right three times in less than week and when i complained they brought up what i ordered but by then my food was cold i understand that mistakes happen but threee times and they wont mindful of my food being cold hard enough to deal with a stroke pain and nausea but i cant get my food brought right or warm and i have a swallowing issue. mr. Lee Andre, the nurse up here on four Midwest was the best nurse hands-down I’ve ever had in my entire life. there was also a guy that brings the trays up and there was two times in particular I hollered out from my room because I had a spoon or a fork or something and it needed to go and he came right in here and he got it. he was very nice young man

If I could give this place 0 stars I would . I don't know where to even start . The nurses show no care for the Patients. One Nurse stated she couldn't tell me where we were on the waiting list . Then minutes later another nurse was able to let us know . By looking at the SAME computer. Then While sitting in the "room"(which was a hallway ) they got ready for us after 7 HOURS . We were finally told nothing was wrong and to take ibuprofen and drink water .... Then one of the nurses had the nerve to state how she neglected another patient while gossiping with another. (This i overheard at 4:20am mind you we arrived at 6pm. ) Best believe I will never be back to Cone Health unless if i'm on my death bed knowing that I won't have to speak to a nurse or doctor here . We have to do a better job choosing who's caring for us because at the end of the day these people are not it . Point Blank Period.

My daughter had to be admitted to the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit for a week. This was my first experience with Moses Cone. From the admitting department, all the way to her discharge I was thoroughly pleased with the care she received!

Immediately upon arriving she was wheeled to the unit. Right away her nurse Janique came in and introduced herself and let us know she'd be taking care of my daughter. She was very pleasant and really engaged in conversation with us as she gathered the information she needed. She showed such compassion and answered all questions we had. She didn't act rushed or like we were a bother, which I really appreciated. She listened compassionately to our concerns as well.

Dr. Yadav, the neurologist came in within a couple hours of my daughters arrival to the unit. She explained to us very thoroughly what they were looking for and the ways they would capture that data. She made sure to fully understand the history of seizures and asked detailed questions in order to understand better. She then answered all the questions we had and shared some helpful feedback that put our minds at ease and also helped us to feel fully supported in our search for answers.

Dr. Yadav called me with updates as I had to work and wanted to be sure that I understood what was happening with my daughter. She is truly an amazing provider that genuinely cares about her patients. Her compassion comes through with each interaction.

Midweek I brought my granddaughters to see their Mom. We learned that visitors could also order a meal and pay an inexpensive $6 for it. So we were all able to have a meal together in the room. Given that she wasn't allowed out of bed, this allowed us an opportunity to spend some more time together. A lady by the name of Erica took our orders and was so patient with my youngest granddaughter. She was professional and kind. She impressed me enough that I made sure to get her name.

My daughter connected with a few different staff members during the week. Many of which I do not know their names. But she shared how they were kind and talked to her, making her feeling at ease. That meant a lot to me.

She said the food was pretty good. I enjoyed the Grilled Chicken Caesar salad and the banana pudding was exceptional! My granddaughter rated her burger an 8/10. The mac and cheese is also really good according to the family.

The facility is very clean and neat looking. Very pleasing to the eye. There is free parking for visitors which I appreciated. There is also free valet service! I am really impressed with what I saw and experienced at Moses Cone. Just an FYI: this review is coming from someone who works at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist. Well done, Cone Health!

This is the main city hospital for the Greensboro and High Point area.

There are multiple parking areas in the women's health and main entrance, but they get very full very quickly. The great thing is that the parking is FREE and people really need to appreciate that. It's tough having to be burdened to pay $10 or $20 dollars for parking every time you visit while dealing with a health crisis. They also go above and beyond by offering free valet parking in the Main Entrance A. You just need to make sure you go to entrance A as directed by the signs IF you're not going to Emergency.

The Emergency area can get packed, but the attendants (security & admittance staff) that intake visitors and patients were kind and helpful. For the Emergency rooms you are allowed 2-visitors in the room if you are family; only (1) if you are not. For regular admittance, you are allowed up to 4-visitors but you well need to register and take a picture and show ID in the main entrance A.

My father was taken in through Emergency, accessed, had surgery, and was transferred to a room. The transition was good, and the staff was very helpful with my father's requests and care even though English is his 2nd language, and communication is more challenging. They were able to even coordinate his regularly scheduled dialysis without an issue.

Shelby, our RN on call, went above and beyond to offer assistance and care as if she was a part of the family. We need more skilled caretakers like Shelby to fill our hospitals. Thank you!

Yes, as mentioned in some other reviews, some staff can be apathetic or seemingly slow to action but keep in mind they are faced with sometimes a thankless, and very difficult task of caring for people we love.

Pro Tip: Preschedule the meals for the person staying. Yes, realistically if you special request something, like ask for more gravy, it may take an hour to get it due to the size of the facility and number of people on staff.

Midas 5-stars for the parking options. The wonderful nurses that go above and beyond. And the Panera cafe is located next to the gift shop. The gift shop had some great finds also.
